MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

ABOUT ME

I am a senior in the Mechanical Engineering program at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. I am also completing a concentration in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Art. I have always been interested in how mechanical systems work together, whether it be a toy, car, or multi-million dollar fighter jet. I chose to major in Mechanical Engineering because it gives me the knowledge and tools to work with various mechanical systems alongside electrical systems in all facets to engineer and develop a competitive product.

PROJECTS

Flight Simulator Ruder Pedal Project
Built aircraft ruder pedals for aircraft flight simulator. Fabricated mechanical system, wired electronics and wrote code for the microcontroller.
Briefcase Speaker Project
In the Engineering Design Independent Project Class, I researched and built a portable bluetooth speaker from an antique briefcase. Through my extensive research, I learned what components are needed for a speaker, how they work together, the theory behind why speakers produce sound, and how that theory is applied to reality. Using my knowledge in woodworking and learning new techniques, I gutted the inside of the briefcase, shored up the inside with wood bracing, and cut holes for and installed all the components.
Engineering Design Studio 1
QUADCOPTER PROJECT

Over the summer, I researched and built a KWAD, which is an unmanned aerial vehicle that uses four propellers to create lift. I assembled the KWAD using a mix of soldering electrical connections between the different boards and electronics, a multitude of fastening techniques, and installing and optimizing the software settings in order to make the drone fly.
